No there isn't anything wrong with people who did that. People chose to invest 1 million gold to get KOABD points based on the understood rules of the game and it's completely unfair to change the rules mid-investment. Getting 1 million gold is not "easy" and spending it all just for two titles is way harder than getting many of the other KOABD-counting titles are. It is also totally unfair to make a value judgement that the tremendous gold they paid for that is irrelevant and they should be suddenly screwed out of and because in the opinion of some players other titles in the game have more value.
As for the poster who said "getting more gold is not a big deal" - in amounts like these, yes it is. Going from a 1 million to over 2 million investment after 1 million was already spent is a huge time and energy committment that cannot reasonably be thrust on players out of the blue.
If they are gonna add tiers to Lucky (5 is what it was advertised as btw, not 6!) then they better add more tiers to every other title track too. Not just the title tracks that those who didn't earn the money to spend on them don't care about. Anything other than that or giving back the gold of all players who want it would be extremely unequitable.

Why would someone "work" so hard on this title if they didn't want to get max in the end. With the recent change to Lucky, it will now take over double the initial amount to reach max. That is something definatly worth complaints.

To start on this terrible post by you, yes, lucky is a hard title to get.
Let's strip it down to bare bones:
Time required to complete protector of Tyria: 10-20 hours.
Time required to farm up 1M gold and then afk it on the rings: way more.

Because maybe they don't just want KOABD, maybe they want the next tiers of KOABD too. Or maybe they are not fond of participating in the tasks involved in maxing other titles, like crazy pixel-hunting to get 100% cartography. But they don't mind farming to get 1 mill max the Lucky/Unlucky. Which at 5 tiers is already plenty hard enough to get maxed. No matter what the reason is, it's a legitimate reason since was an informed and EULA-legal decision based on understood mechanics of the game.
It's easy to make value judgements about and find reasons to bash any title in the game. Lucky and Unlucky have always been especially popular targets. But that does not justify the title-bashing or make it ok to suddenly change the rules for maxing the most most-bashed titles to the detriment of those players who invested the most in them.
This is like if they updated "Skill Hunter" so to cap a skill you had to capture the same specific skill 3 separate times before it will "take" on your title track as a skill captured. If they did that there would be a huge outrage amongst skill-hunter holders. And that outrage would be totally legitimate, just as any outrage about this alleged change of Lucky is.
Anet did the right thing by not tacking Guardian on top of the Protector track as was originally planned. The outrage over that impending taking away of maxed Protector titles is no different from the outrage over the taking away of maxed Lucky/Unlucky titles which were stated to max out at tier 5. Hopefully they will do the right thing again with Lucky/Unlucky and leave it as it originally was.

I don't mind having an extra lucky tier. Is what I do mind is that Lucky 6 requires more than lucky 1-5 _combined_.

A few things of note:
1. No one knew what the previous max for lucky was. No one had achieved it on live servers. So, to say that by adding a new level of lucky is 'changing' it is wrong. The original conclusion that 5 was max didnt even have the name right (from a taiwan leak).
2. People using wiki as a source need to look up the definition of 'unconfirmed'.
3. The leaked tier 6 and 7 (lucky/unlucky) were from beta servers. Thats a place where things are tested. We play a different build. Please dont take the information from there as fact. Yes, alot of it has been true in the past, but a little skepticism is a good thing.
Personal opinion: I think this is all for not and that golden will be confirmed as max in the morning. But, like most people, i dont know.

The way Lucky title is achieved is so insane. 50,000 points for tier 1 and it only gives you 2% chance of retaining lockpick. The only feasible and least effort way to farm for this title is AFKing the Boardwalk games. No wonder 95% of people are participating the Shing Jea Monastery's events now are AFK.
Come on Arenanet! What fun of an event if people just need to AFK in it?
I think this title needs to be reworked.
- Lower req for each tier.
- Give more points after lockpick is retained.
And if these 2 changes are made, put nerf AFK in boardwalk games.

The new rank of Lucky Title level 6 is insane... People spent hundreds of thousands gold(like me) on that and now they increase it to 2,5 mil... That would be almost impossible to reach..

If you run chests and earn 250 point towards lucky you can max Lucky and Treasure Hunter at the same time. 250 x 10.000 = 2.500.000
So if they lower Lucky, then lower Treasure Hunter as well since it's the same job now.

I have invested a big amount of time and cash into the lucky/unlucky title tracks and must say am disppointed with anets desicion to increase these titles even further.
I cant get to all the events for the broadwalk due to military commitments so already feel behind.
Please anet give us many more of these events and gamer weekends so we can get this title maxed and be able to enjoy for an amount of time before moving over to GW2. Would not be cool at all to only be able to max these titles with only months left before GW2.
Will be looking into doing the chest running I guess, but man those lockpicks are expensive. Either way i have invested a lot of time and cash into these titles so wont be stopping, will just be doing it with a frown rather than a smile.
Please Gaile comment on these changes and their reasons, you have some pretty upset people here, that in my opinion, desrve some sort of explanation.

You must be really lucky to be able to retain your one lock pick 10,000 times in a row.

Nicely said!
So, can Gaile or a GM give their say on this matter?

Well back in the early days of GW, 100k/hr farming was EASILY obtained so really the only difficulty in this is if:
a) You weren't a day one/beta player
b) You didn't just on the 105/55 UW bandwagon
The lucky title is like saying Sweet Tooth is hard to get because of the money involved. It's not rocket science on how to obtain wealth in a short amount of time. Anyone can do it, even the casual player.

I'll guarantee that there are a lot of players who weren't playing from day one.
Now I'm not gonna jump down your throat, but I do think that its hard to amass that sort of money when you have constraints on your time. Yes, everybody has lives outside of GW, but then when it comes to playing the game, a lot of people just want to work on characters, taking them through PvE - completing campaigns, whatever. Creating a character and working through on them until you complete a campaign just about pays for itself with some profit, but nowhere near the amounts you're talking, otherwise we'd all be running around with the best armour, runes, heroes, equipped with Tormented weapons and the like.
In preparation for GW2, I'm trying to get, at the very least, KOABD or PKM on one of my characters, so that it'll pass on something through the Hall of Monuments - but I am getting a little sick of the titles that have to be payed for. Sweet Tooth and Drunkard are assisted by the festivals to some degree, the free gifts that you get for participating sometimes have stuff you can use for them, but when it comes to Unlucky/Lucky, you have to shell out a hell of a lot in buying tickets which is just ridiculous, especially as you can't play GW for the whole weekend because you're afk'd on some circle in Shing Jea Monastery.
Now Skillz - I can understand. Sure, it takes an unbelievable amount of points to max that one out, but at least you're actively doing something for it and can have fun at the same time.

well, after being gone for a day, lets see if I can get this thing back on track.
I'm not one wanting to flame others, but seeing posts that are insinuating "titles are dumb/pointless" really makes me wonder why in the world you are even reading this topic let alone making absolutley no contribution to a general discussion. Opinions are just that so if you don't agree with what is being talked about here, then you should go find another topic, unless you are looking to be worshipped as a god (since you obviously have the correct opinion, and yes I am a pathetic mortal man in comparison to thou) by everyone that DOES contibrute to this topic.
With that out of the way, it would be nice to have an official break down of titles from Anet, so you can decide if which titles are something you really want to go for, trying to find who posted that idea, but I love it. And yes, it would be nice to see Gaile or a GM add in to this duscussion as well.
And BTW, my opinion is always correct >_<

I am hoping that everyone here realizes this post was started as speculation and also was started in hopes of letting Anet know what it's players would like to see on this matter. In a way, I completely agree with your post, Nigel, but did you mean to come across so harsh? In my eyes, what you wrote was repeating or re-itterating things which were already thought about, but then again there may be some jumping in on this topic that don't know all this and in that case, it needed to be said. But yeah, I am trying to be optomistic and would love to see what the verdict is on this case come tomorrow morning.

|
I'm not really sure what to think about the increased tier. At the current rate with which the Boardwalk games are held, it will take another 1.5 years or two to get 2.5 million. Obviously, this is inane and should be changed in some way, probably by adding the event more often.

I was afking the minigames every event and about to hit golden , but makes me very mad thinking that ill have to do same for anothe 8 weekends to get Max.
